You're Invited
Join artist and Medicine Keeper, Pixie Campbell for Visual Quest as she guides you through a 5-week online course on her process of shamanic painting. During Week 1, participants will be initiated into shamanic practice and shown the tools and uses which will accompany them on their creative journey. Weeks 2-5 will be composed of daily lessons in creativity/painting and integrative spiritual practice.
Pixie’s approach, to both art and spirit, is natural and simple, yet deep and holistic.
Visual Quest is for spiritual people who want to give form to what they feel inside and around them.
It’s also for creative people desiring to connect to the Spirit that lies inside of them and out.
It's for artists wishing to freshen and deepen their practice, and for non-artists who would like to explore the mediums in a non-competitive and supportive environment.
It is for deep-thinkers and deep-feelers exploring their inner terrain and wanting to gain more clarity about the strongest archetypes within them.
Sharing My Practice :: Honoring the Medicine
This class is a convergence of everything I know about spirit and art all rolled into one. Creative living and spiritual practice are my cornerstones, representing all that's mysterious and alive in all of us. I’ve been painting for twenty-three years, and I’ve watched my practice become more reflective of my deep Self, and less of my ‘ideas’ about what would make a good painting. This process is letting go, it’s color and spirit in motion, it’s a deep embrace of What Is, and a deep honoring of life itself in keeping with the sacred feminine teachings so dear to me.

What is Shamanism?
Shamanism is the practice of utilizing ancient divining tools for the benefit of humankind and the Earth. It is thousands of years old, and is still being used by indigenous medicine people today. A traditional shaman “journeys” into other dimensions to obtain healing guidance for individuals who are unwell, and for directives for the tribe. A modern-day medicine person works with shamanic tools to retrieve insights about the Self, as Jung referred to it, or non-ego related, Universal consciousness.
In my shamanic practice, I discovered that the “other dimensions” (within and without) hold a hidden goldmine of inspiration, and purely authentic soul ephemera with which to create. My paintings reflect the themes, archetypes, and sub-personas that reside within me. Unsurprisingly, we share universal messages, which makes creating and sharing art a beautiful way to connect with one’s own and one another’s souls. In this course, you’ll discover what lies in the deep caverns of beautiful YOU and what might like to be shared from that sacred place.
What is a Vision Quest?
A vision quest is a traditional practice of being alone, sometimes in a wild place, and staying put there for a number of days, while fasting, in order to cleanse oneself and hear the messages that are trying to come through. Traditional native people would wait for messages, signs and symbols from Spirit, such as an unusual occurrence in the weather which would indicate one’s path or purpose in life, a visit from a wild creature, obvious signals, or even voices. One’s own relationship to Spirit is honored and affirmed in this process.
As creatives, and many of us spiritual creatives at that, we too, await the messages- the holy Muse, the inspiration download, the retention of the small bits which drive us to get to work. The vision quest you're about to go on will take you into your relationship with the Source of Creation. It is personal and private for you, and your birthright to access to the messages.
A medicine person traditionally holds the sacred space while the questers go out into the wild. He or she makes prayers and offerings, and calls on the guides and spirits to become known to the questers. This is my job, which I honor in the tradition that I was taught.

Your Guide
Pixie Campbell is an artist, writer and sacred-space holder. Her driving passions are the Earth and her creatures, plants and elements. This informs the work she does as a women's circle facilitator, project collaborator, artist, and art instructor. She is a Magician, interested mostly in transforming what isn't working into wisdom.
She's the creator of SouLodge, an ongoing series of virtual coursework and live workshops for women in an active state of repairing their relationships to themselves, to the Earth and to each other. In addition to monthly online Earth Medicine teachings, SouLodge hosts a virtual community forum of women in continuous dialogue about what it REALLY feels like to be a woman today: the challenges we face in daily life, and in our soul-work, healing our fragmented personalities and visions, reclaiming the sacred feminine, and readying the next generation to create a healthier planet.
Pixie and SouLodge serve the many archetypes of Woman. They provide safe shelter for women to do their sacred soulwork and collect power-restoring and Earth-respecting tools for living.
She's sold hundreds of pieces of artwork-many of which were created with an infant slung around her- hung in galleries nationwide, contributed to books on creativity, healthy living, money and self-help, has been featured in magazines such as Somerset Studio, Somerset Life, Taproot, and Bamboo, led coast-to-coast workshops, and co-founded Matrilumina with Christine Mason Miller last year. She's on a lifelong quest to empower men, women and children to live in harmony with their bodies, each other, and the Earth.
Pixie thrills at the ever-growing circles of women everywhere, at the many Gatherers honoring their divine gifts, and... she's a canine in alternate reality and she really does howl at the moon.
